Winter is a beautiful time to be in the Hocking Hills! The waterfalls freeze
and ice formations hang from rocks everywhere…the whole area sparkles! The
hiking trails are even much less busy than other times of the year, so you
really feel like you have the place to yourselves.
While it is true that some seasonal activities are not open year ‘round,
there is still plenty to do in the
Hocking Hills during Winter months.
One of the season’s most popular events is the
Hocking Hills Winter Hike.

Please note that there are no refunds due to inclement weather, and that we HIGHLY RECOMMEND four wheel
drive during the Winter months. While most roads around us are State Routes and school bus routes and
are therefore well-cared for, the very nature of the roads in the Hocking Hills area can make traveling
difficult if you are not experienced driving in ice or snow. All of our driveways are gravel, and can
be as much as ½ mile long. We suggest staying at our Chapel Ridge location if any of this makes you
nervous, and that you plan to arrive before dark to make driving easier. Please make sure that you
have everything with you that you will need for the duration of your stay. It is YOUR responsibility
to be able to get to and from your cabin.
Still not scared??...Good!
We’ve done our best to give you all the “cons” and to be sure that you are ready for the worst case
scenarios, but we think that if you’ll give Winter in the Hocking Hills a chance, you’ll really be hooked!
There's nothing like sitting in a hot tub and watching it snow! Most of our guests that have experienced
the Hills in the Winter make it a yearly tradition.
